03The Lumanta method

Free Up Space. How to rise above negative thoughts

Every thought you let go of leaves a little more room. Rise is the third step of the Lumanta method: noticing the space you’ve created and choosing what you’d like to fill it with.

Quick answer

Rising above, in short

  • Negative thoughts use up attention and energy.
  • Each one you notice and release frees up a little room.
  • Use that space on purpose: ideas, creativity, connection, rest.
  • Rising is a practice, not a finish line. Keep noticing.

Rise completes the Lumanta method. Then the loop starts again: Catch, Shift, Rise, one thought at a time.

What does it mean to rise above negative thoughts?

Rising above the static doesn’t mean you’ll never feel fear or doubt again. It means those thoughts stop running the show. When you catch a thought and let it pass, the attention it was using comes back to you.

Rise is about noticing that returned space, and choosing what to do with it. Less static. More space.

How to free up mental space, one thought at a time

  1. Catch the thought.Notice it the moment it shows up. Here’s how to catch a negative thought.
  2. Shift.Acknowledge it without judgment and let it pass. Here’s how to let go.
  3. Notice the space.Pause for one breath and feel the room the thought was taking up.
  4. Choose what you make room for.A creative idea, a kind word, a plan, a moment of rest. Decide what you want more of.

That’s the whole Lumanta method: Catch, Shift, Rise. Then keep noticing.

Simple ways to use the space you free up

Rise works best when you use the space on purpose. A few ideas to start with:

  • IdeasWrite down the idea that’s been waiting for some room.
  • ConnectionSend a message to someone you’ve been meaning to reach out to.
  • CreativitySpend five minutes making something, just for you.
  • PresenceTake three slow breaths and really look around you.
  • CalmLet the space stay empty for a moment. Quiet counts too.
  • PossibilityAsk yourself: what could I create from here?

There’s no right answer. What matters is that you choose, instead of letting the static choose for you.

Why isn’t awareness a score?

Lumanta doesn’t grade your thoughts or reward you for having fewer of them. A day with lots of catches isn’t a bad day. It’s a day full of awareness.

That’s why the app speaks in simple acknowledgments, never praise or criticism. You noticed. Keep noticing. Awareness grows with practice, and every moment of it counts.

Can rising above negativity be a spiritual practice?

In many traditions, rising above is less about escaping life and more about seeing it clearly. With less static, you might find more room for gratitude, presence, connection or whatever your own practice is reaching toward.

Lumanta doesn’t define what that is for you. It helps you make room for it. Free Up Space. See what’s possible.

Questions about rising above

Start by noticing the thoughts taking up the most room, especially negative, fearful and judgmental ones. Catch each one, let it pass, and then choose on purpose what you'd like to give that attention to instead.

No. Lumanta isn't about forcing positive thoughts. It's about noticing and releasing the static so there's room for whatever matters to you, whether that's an idea, a person or simply some quiet.

You keep noticing. Catch, Shift and Rise is a loop, not a ladder. Each time you go around it, you practice awareness and make a little more room.
